Kathys Lecture 10/29 Pretty good....for a girl.

1. essentials, identity.
the personal, body, sexuality, vaginal iconagraph, arrirm female attributes.
2. material, techniques.
unique women.
3. activist.
performance, sisterhood.
4. distinguish art of men/women.

different things can effect your work, car wreck, death, ect..
women thought they were being minimized because quilts were considered low art.

Identity Essentials.

when i shot these i was thinking in terms of gender because theres a big difference between what women feet look like and what men feet look like.
the guy here is a cc runner and he had just got done running, thats why all the veins in his feet are popping out.
this first shot is my favorite, we were just playing around when we took it but actually makes me feel like theres a feminine touch to these manly feet.
i chose the black carpet because i didnt want the tile on my floor to be a big part of the picture, and i dont think this one would have looked as good on just a tile floor.
my approch was basically just trying to get the foot into some weird actions or positions rather then just lik if you were looking down at your own two feet.

after i retook the pictures:

Self Portrait (Bills Project)

thinking thinking thinkingg...
it was really hard for me to think of things to do, but after alot of rambleing and confusion, i finally think i came up with something good.

im going to take a girly, colorfull book and on the inside, take a black marker and cross out every word except for words that kind of go with insecurities, and then in the middle of all that, im going to make a whole new page out of broken mirror...

and yes, i crosed out every single line in that book

The Crit!

Good things:
the mirror brings you into the peice
without it, it wouldnt be nearly as good
makes your want to read the words that arnt crossed out
the broken refelction of yourself is cool
the outside of the cover and the name of the book go good with the inside, plus its girlie like me

things that could be better:
presented at eye level
the book was more worn out, not so new
lines were more messy rather then so straight
the mirror page fit into the book more.
and the edges of the mirror were either really straight or not straigh at all

Modular Madness

Beads...what was i thinkingg.

well, this project has been very confusing to me, not because of the instructions, ^^^thats what i made at first and Bill loved it, so i thought to myself "hmm, ill try to make it better"....i was wrong.
it just kep getting worse, soo i made three of the things above and connected all of them, im not sure what to think of it myself, but its different.

The Critic!
everyone loved the color! that was the first thing that came out of everyones mouth.
they wanted it to be a little bigger than it actually was
im glad that i decided to hang it on the wayy because i dont think i would have got as much positive feedback as i wouldhave gotten if it was just sitting on a table.
someone suggested putting a light above it to make the cool shadows of the beads stand out more.
